The Benjamin Kauffmann Isenhower and Jacob Henry Isenhower Memorial Health Education Scholarship

In an instant you touched our hearts forever!

From the moment a couple learn that they will become parents, they begin to imagine a future for their child. From mental images of what the baby will look like to ones of the child playing in the yard, learning to ride a bike, going on their first date and meeting their spouse, parents create a beautiful world in their mind full of possibilities for them and their child. When a child dies at birth, these dreams are shattered.

This scholarship was established by Lynn Isenhower in memory of the brief lives of Benjamin Kauffmann Isenhower and Jacob Henry Isenhower. These twin boys of her oldest son, Matthew and his wife, Christina, born just shy of 25 weeks, on March 1, 2017, were simply too small to survive. Even the advanced medical care available here in the U.S. couldn't prevent this tragedy. There is little medical care available in the areas Matthew2540 serves nor much knowledge of healthy habits and lifestyles in general. We hope that recipients of this scholarship will through gaining additional education in a health field, impact their community's prenatal health and the health of its most vulnerable, the children. Your gifts in memory of the twins make this possible and provide us consolation that they are not forgotten. Thank you.

Each March 1, we encourage you to remember Matt and Christina with your thoughts and prayers and to also complete a walk or run in memory of Benjamin Kauffmann and Jacob Henry. If you choose also to make a donation, please note in the comment section what you did. Physical activity is critical to a healthy life. Make your life as healthy as it can be.

You are here because you care; maybe about Matthew and Christina Isenhower, the parents of Benjamin Kauffmann and Jacob Henry, maybe about their grandparents, Lynn and David Isenhower or Doug and Sally Kauffmann, maybe about infant mortality, stillbirths, pre-term deliveries or miscarriages, maybe about maternal deaths and complications from pregnancy, maybe about education or poverty or the effect poverty has on educational opportunities, maybe about all of the above. Whatever, we are there with you and thank you for caring.
